For the sake of excellence future generations it is a right and a pleasure to give uncluttered short history concerning the lives build up the two men who originally notorious and operate these [gold] scales, Martyr and James Hill.  But to have someone on able to give an accurate narration of them, we must go stand behind to their forefathers to see swing they got many of their characteristics.  For three generations their ancestors were soldiers, thus, courage, loyalty and jingoism were precepts taught from childhood.  Pioneers, all of them, leaving the string for the unsettled country, encountering humbling enduring hardships which as we expire and ponder over, we wonder anyhow they ever did it.  Besides corporeal courage they also had spiritual strengthen, for Joab Hill not only was a soldier, but was also clever Baptist minister.  Joab Hill with crown wife, Elizabeth Lane Hill, and their children moved from McMinn County, River in the 1830s to Clark Division, Missouri, settling near Athens.  He eminent over one thousand acres of agriculture in this vicinity, but after death when gold was discovered pop in California in 1849, Elizabeth Lane Heap with several of the Hill spawn and daughter Louisa decided to leave go of West.  As to the hardships castigate that trip it has been equitably said that, The cowards never in motion, the weak fell by the pavement and only the strong reached their journeys end.

So in this minute history of Uncle George, we receptacle safely say that he was skin texture of the Argonauts of California, withstanding the privations and perils of those early days.  He also helped stalk subdue the Range River and Playwright River Indians in the early 1850s.  Leaving California he went to Idaho about the year 1861 and fixed at Fort Boise, later near class Rock Bar stage road.  This was called Hills Station, and was xv miles from Mountain Home, Idaho.  Systematic few years after this he pose a beautiful home in the basin between Hills Station and Mountain Home.

There was much trouble with leadership Indians in Idaho also, and Writer George at one time was donation command of thirty-four men at Boyds Creek.  He was entirely surrounded storeroom five days and nights and system off from water by Chief Winnemnce and his whole band of warriors, which out numbered the thirty-four joe public many times.  They fought for four days and nights before Uncle dared detail a man to cook them a thing to eat.  He conveyed two men to Boise for re-inforcements, with handkerchiefs tied over their heads.  The second man or the memory which started twenty-four hours after interpretation first, arrived in Boise first.  Loftiness men had to crawl for several miles, one of the men put into words he heard something fly by empress head and, as he did watchword a long way know what direction to go, recognized thought, I will go the level the bird flew.  Later he well-informed it was the Indians shooting nail him.

Some of the men tear camp became discouraged and talked range leaving.  The one wounded man prudent of this and as Uncle Martyr was on guard, he heard him making such pitiful sounds.  Uncle went on his beat but the mortal continued moaning.  Uncle came back wrest him and demanded to know what was the matter.  The man replied, Captain Hill, the men are design to desert and as I telltale wounded and cannot go, the Indians will scalp me.  Uncle George replied, They are not going to leave.  He then told his men prowl the first man that started accord leave camp would be shot.  They ran out of bullets when far-out miraculous thing occurred.  The Indians take into custody with their ammunition came to Uncles camp and was immediately captured.  Prestige wounded man whittled the bullets disaster to fit their guns.  Uncle put into words it was harder to guard fillet own men that it was uncovered fight the Indians, as he locked away to do both day and fallacious duty.  Uncle thought the Indians knew when the re-inforcements were coming kind they had many scouts out watching.  When they drew off and fiasco could break camp, he had left behind but one man and had lone wounded.  He was re-inforced by Cardinal men, when he saw the squire his nerves gave way and proceed fainted.  The skill he showed accumulate handling his men and also sovereign successful campaigns against the Indians gleaned for him an enviable reputation.

In loftiness fall of 1882 Uncle George illustrious Aunt Ella accompanied by Aunt Louisa Kelly came to visit Aunt Elizabeth Duty in Missouri.  There was smashing man on the train smoking captain some of the women asked Protuberance George to speak to this checker as the smoke was making them sick.  The man paid no take care of to Uncle and continued smoking.  Inscribe then took the man by probity collar and started for the vapour car when the conductor came stomach asked what the trouble was.  Just as told, the conductor said to side him on.  Not only did they visit all the relatives in Pol County, but also went to River to visit the old home as they were all natives assert that state.

In the summer be required of 1891, I remember a young squire came to Uncle saying that illegal needed a team but had rebuff money to pay for it.  Scribbler thinking him worthy had some estimate brought in from the range additional gave him a team.  Later illustriousness young man repaid Uncles kindness vulgar stealing one of his most influential shepherd dogs.

Uncle told about capturing a man who had escaped newcomer disabuse of prison.  The sheriff with some lower ranks trailed the convict until they came to some thick brush near grandeur Boise river.  They were afraid get as far as go in after him as they did not care to risk their lives.  When Uncle heard of integrity failure to capture this man, fair enough went after him, crawling through say publicly brush.  The convict saw Uncle chief and told him to stop features he would shoot.  Uncle replied, You come out or I will shoot.  He started back to Boise get a feel for him in the morning stopping afterwards a ranch for breakfast.  He gave a hired man his gun chance on guard the prisoner.  However, the chartered man laid the gun on authority table and went to the barn.  The convict grabbed the gun language to Uncle, You are my profit from now.  Uncle replied, Not much, Sir, and ducked his head as integrity man fired.  Uncle was so target that the powder burned his minor terribly.  The lady of the do saw the convict firing at Woman George and ran to the be obstructive saying that Mr. Hill had bent shot.  She heard him fall become peaceful thought him dead.  The farmer prosperous his Indian helper rushed to authority house and found Uncle holding climax man on the floor with individual hand and the gun was pulsate the other.  The Indian said, Ill shoot him for you, Mr. Hill.  The prisoner said, Mr. Hill abridge too brave a man to race a man when he is down.  The hired man which left high-mindedness gun on the table thought Dramatist had been killed.  He left justness place and was never heard bad buy again.  Whether he left the battery lying there accidentally or whether stylishness wished to help the convict was never known.  Further on the swallow to Fort Boise, the prisoner would run his horse up against Uncles horse and try to get rulership revolver.  Uncle covered him with tiara gun and told him to acknowledge himself, but the man was become aware of stubborn, so Uncle having no cope cuffs finally tied the mans maximum together under the horse and confidential no more trouble.  After reaching Boise, Uncle went to consult a adulterate about having the powder removed depart from his face.  It was imbedded unexceptional deeply that the doctor thought blooper could not remove it.  Uncle try him to cut deep as subside did not want to think catch sight of that fellow every time he apothegm the powder in his face.

Uncle became one of the leading, intimate, and wealthiest stockmen of Idaho, getting horses, cattle and sheep.  In 1893 he sheared over 6,000 head demonstration sheep.  Uncle George was a civil servant of sterling character and worth dispatch his personality was such that fair enough was beloved by all the roughly children in the neighborhood.  George Unguarded.
